When we speak to a potential client, we always ask if they researched the procedure. We suggest when they book in a consultation, have a list of questions for us and we will help them choose which options suit best. An example – they are about to have the scalp micropigmentation procedure and are wonder “Does The Treatment Cover For Future Hair Loss? This is a question we often hear from potential clients. There are different options you have and I will discuss these for you.
If you have thinning hair or are suffering from male pattern baldness and are considering having the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure, the different options you have include –
1. Shaving your head to a buzz cut level – This is the option most clients choose and the best option for the practitioner as we can see the full head to see the areas that need to be worked on. A potential client will also need to remember – each person who is completely bald will have different areas that we will need to build density. Most people have hair follicles that we use as a guide but others suffer from alopecia and the procedure is longer as there is a much wider area to focus on. Please note – if you do choose this option, make sure you moisturise your scalp prior to each treatment. A moisturised scalp is easier to work on for the technician, the pigment will be properly absorbed it helps keeping the skin hydrated. You will also need to keep moisturising your scalp days after each treatment but you will receive instructions of when to begin moisturising again.
2. A DensityFill In – This is where the client does not shave their heads and we are building density. We will build the density up in the area/s that they are experiencing hair loss at the time of the procedure. We always stress to our clients – if they continue to lose hair, they will have to come back to us in the future and fill in the new areas of loss. If the client agrees to this option, they must sign a waiver informing them we are only filling the area that currently has hair loss.
3. A different option – one that we have had several clients choose this option but one that seems to be gaining in popularity – where the client decides to shave their head for the entire procedure (all three 3 sessions over six weeks) They then have the full Scalp Micropigmentation procedure performed on the entire head, from back to front. They will then grow their hair back to the original length after the final procedure. The head is fully covered so when they experience more hair loss, they already have the density built up. For this option, these are much longer sessions (may be between four to six hours per session) than the norm but it can be done. Please enquire if this may be an option for you.
