SMP – Different Questions We Hear

At Ultra Scalp Ink, we are asked many questions regarding the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure. Here are some different questions we hear from prospective clients: Do I Always Need To get A New Hairline If I Have Scalp Micropigmentation? To ease your mind, the answer is no! It’s completely up to you what you want to have done. If you’re just having a fill in / adding density, you won’t need to even make a decision as you’re not shaving all your hair off. If you’re having the buzz cut look, you have a choice. We can replicate the hairline as close as you have it now or if you want something new, we can create a new one as well. This is a decision the client needs to make on their own. If they ask us for advice, we will absolutely give it but in the end, it’s you that needs to make the decision. Will The Pain Continue After The Treatment Procedure Is Finished? There will be some level of pain while you’re having the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure. Each person’s pain threshold is completely different. The discomfort usually is during the actual procedure, which is considered more to be a discomfort rather than pain. The pain will cease after the procedure but there may be some soreness in the area that was worked on but that won’t last long at all. I Prefer To Avoid Any Pain – Can I Take A Painkiller? Pain is something that most everyone would like to avoid at any cost. When someone tells you – you will feel some pain during or after any procedure, you’re naturally going to be concerned. The good thing with SMP – from discussing this with clients and experiencing myself – the pain is only about a 3 on a scale of 10 but, again, who wants to deal with any pain? If you’re concerned with pain and you would prefer to take a painkiller prior to treatment, our suggestion would be to take either a paracetamol or co-codamol, approximately an hour or so prior to the procedure as this may help. You MUST avoid any painkillers that will thin the blood, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, which are known as a anticoagulant. I Would Like To Get My Treatments Finished Quickly – Why Is There A Gap In-Between Sessions? As many of you are aware, from the time of your first treatment to your second treatment, there is a seven day gap. From the second to the third treatment, there is a four week gap. We believe that by offering three treatment sessions, you will be able to see the best results. The time between the first and second treatment allows for healing, where you can see the colour and shade, then have the opportunity to increase the density. We can also see check to see if there’s any fading at which point we can add additional pigment. The final session allows us to assess how it looks after one month and then put the finishing touches to your new hairline. What Age Restrictions Are There? Scalp micropigmentation is a treatment suitable for men and women and for all ages from the age of 18. Unfortunately, we can’t treat any clients under the age of 18 but we have treated many clients in their 60’s, 70’s and some in their 80’s! If you’re considering having the procedure and you feel you are too old, remember age is just a number! If you have any questions, just ask, we’re here for you!
