How To Prepare Your Scalp For SMP?

When you agree to have the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure performed, you will need to prepare your scalp prior to the treatments. We have had clients ask questions prior to the treatments such as “I am starting my Scalp Micropigmentation treatments but I want to know “How To Prepare Your Scalp For Scalp Micropigmentation?”

Here’s what you will need to do prior to the beginning of your treatments:

Shave Your Head – If you have a decent hairline and are only thinning on top, it is your choice whether or not you want to shave your head or not. We will go over this during your consultation. Shaving your head will make it easier for the technician to clean and wipe your scalp during the Scalp Micropigmentation. It is easier to see your natural hair follicle placement which will allow the technician to see any imperfections on your scalp. Please do not use a razor on your scalp on the day of the procedure. Shave or cut your hair 24 – 48 hours prior to your scheduled procedure. It is critical that we see all natural hair to be able to properly blend the hair follicles. Any redness, breakouts, or infection on the scalp can lead to your appointment being rescheduled. Remember, if you are only having a density fill procedure performed, you will not need to shave your head.

Moisturise Your Scalp – A healthy scalp is vital for the best looking Scalp Micropigmentation procedure. When your skin is smooth and hydrated, it’s much easier to tattoo. Additionally, moisturised skin is less sensitive during the procedure and absorbs the pigment better. You will get a better result if you do this at least three to 4 times per day for two to three days before your treatment. Your head will also heal faster.

Shampoo Your Head – Wash your scalp with a non abrasive, gentle shampoo the day of your procedure. You must not place any gels, hairspray or powders, on your scalp the day of your treatment. This can negatively affect the treatment.

Avoid Blood Thinners – Avoid alcohol or drugs for 24-48 hours before your scalp micropigmentation appointment. Drinking alcohol decreases the clumping together of clotting cells in the blood. This causes you to experience more bleeding and uneven healing. The blood could also mix with the pigment which would dilute it.

Prepare yourself for what hairline you prefer – This will be discussed during your consultation but you must have your final decision prior to your first treatment. We suggest research – maybe take a look on Instagram, YouTube, different websites, any Scalp Micropigmentation company (we suggest take a look at us at Ultra Scalp Ink). Choose yourself a hairline, whether it be the sharp, the natural, the receded look or the widows peak. We will provide extremely natural results and incredible results, which is what you really are striving for.

Please do not use any styling, chemical, or medical products on your hair/head on the day of the treatment, as again, this can affect the final result.
