One question we often get from clients prior to their scalp micropigmentation treatments – “Should I eat prior to my treatments?” Putting it simply, yes, you should eat prior to your treatments. You should never go to a session without stocking on food and water so, depending on the time of your appointment, a big breakfast, dinner or tea is strongly advised. It is important to get through the treatment by eating a fairly large meal and hydrating properly before entering the treatment area.
This may sound odd but many clients come in without properly eating any food or hydrating before their session. Scalp Micropigmentation causes a trauma to the skin and your body may experience a level of discomfort or pain. Remember, micro-needles will be pricking your scalp repeatedly the whole time, so the process can be physically and mentally draining. Your body will turn to its sugar reserves initially to help get through the session so it is important to have eaten prior to the session so that they are topped up. If you are running low on sugars or on energy, you may feel light headed during the session. If you have good energy reserves your pain tolerance level should be higher than if you start a session hungry. This will increase your energy levels, making you feel more comfortable throughout the treatment session. Without proper nourishment, you may get dizzy or pass out during the process. This is obviously not what we want to see happen and we stress this to all clients!
It is also important to remember that the treatments takes anywhere from three to four hours, and possibly longer for alopecia clients. There are not extended breaks once the process begins (obviously a quick bathroom break is not a problem) During that time you will be sitting and to make it easier on you it is important to have something in your system. We advise our clients to bring a snack, if they prefer, but we also have snack bars and bottled water at our clinic that we offer to you free of charge! You can also have a short break for water or to consume a snack bar,
We have had clients who took advantage of the pick up and drop off service who had nothing in their system. They asked if we would mind stopping off at a shop to get something to eat and it was not a problem! As long as you are early enough for your procedure, we have no problem making a quick stop! We will work with you in every way!
On the negative side, we also must remind any potential clients that, while we advise our clients to be hydrated before the treatments begin, alcohol is strictly forbidden on the day of treatment. If you arrive at our facility for a treatment and we notice you are inebriated, we hold the right to postpone / cancel that session. Let’s do things right guys and make this an enjoyable process!
