While the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure is extremely safe, there are times when you may not be able to have the procedure performed. These are usually only temporary but at times, may be permanent. We have heard potential clients who are considering having the Scalp Micropigmentation procedure but have underlying health issues, “Can I Still Have The SMP Treatments? Here are some examples of both temporary and potentially permanent: Pregnancy or breast-feeding in the first few months. It’s for the protection of the unborn baby as well as the mother. We recommend waiting to have the procedure performed until six months after giving birth Heart disorders – Such as Coronary heart disease, Angina, Heart failure, Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythms), Valve disease, High blood pressure, and Congenital heart conditions Auto immune diseases – Your immune system is made up of organs and cells meant to protect your body from bacteria, parasites, viruses and cancer cells. An autoimmune disease is the result of the immune system accidentally attacking your body instead of protecting it. It’s unclear why your immune system does this.There are over 100 known autoimmune diseases. Common ones include lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. Autoimmune diseases can affect many types of tissues and nearly any organ in your body. They may cause a variety of symptoms including pain, tiredness (fatigue), rashes, nausea, headaches and dizziness. Specific symptoms depend on the exact disease. Type I diabetic – Type 1 diabetes is a serious condition where your blood glucose (sugar) level is too high because your body can not make a hormone called insulin. This happens because your body attacks the cells in your pancreas that make the insulin meaning you can’t produce any at all. We all need insulin to live. It does an extremely important job. It allows the glucose in our blood to enter our cells and fuel our bodies. Skin cancer – Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Non-melanoma skin cancer refers to a group of cancers that slowly develop in the upper layers of the skin. Epilepsy – This is a condition that affects the brain. When someone has epilepsy, it means they have a tendency to have epileptic seizures. Allergies – we can perform a patch test to see if you’re allergic to our pigment. Keloid and hypertrophic scarring – A hypertrophic scar is a thick raised scar. It’s an abnormal response to wound healing in which extra connective tissue forms within the original wound area. The result a raised scar. Taking blood thinning medication – Blood thinners are medicines that help blood flow smoothly through your veins and arteries. They also keep blood clots from forming or getting bigger. They are used to treat some types of heart disease and heart defects, and other conditions that could raise your risk of getting dangerous clots. You may bleed a lot during treatments so you will need to stop using the medication until after your treatments have concluded.
